FAQs

What is weight-inclusive nutrition counseling?

Research shows that the intentional pursuit of weight loss through dieting is not sustainable and causes harm. Thankfully, one does not need to lose weight in order to pursue health or to be healthy. Instead of trying to shrink your body, weight-inclusive nutritional counseling focuses on behavioral changes to move you closer to your version of health (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). It celebrates body diversity as normal and beautiful. More broadly, weight-inclusive care also focuses on improving access to respectful healthcare and reducing weight stigma.

How often will we work together?

We will meet virtually over a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform every other week. We can discuss meeting more or less often depending on your interest, availability, and bandwidth. Intake sessions are 75-90 minutes long and follow-up sessions are 45-60 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

This work is very individualized and highly nuanced so there is no “one size fits all” answer to this question. I want to meet you where you’re at and together come up with an individualized plan based on your goals and values. With that said, clients should plan to be in counseling for a minimum of 2-3 months in order to lay a strong foundation towards food freedom and body liberation.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not able to accept insurance at this time although I hope to be able to in the future! You can request an itemized receipt (called a “superbill”) to submit to your insurance company for an Out-of-Network claim reimbursement. Please note: Insurance companies may or may not cover medical nutrition therapy. A superbill does not guarantee payment for services.
